Chelsea and Travis were my last Virginia engagement session before I move my business to Maryland and it was so so good! Chelsea had asked me if they could bring their son with them for just a family shot together and of course, I said yes! Like, dogs kids get time too and let’s talk about how ADORABLE Caden was! He was full of smiles and when he was done with his part of the session and I told him he could go play he said “Awe” like he was disappointed!!! Cue all the cute emoji’s here!!!! Our session in Back Bay was perfect! The sunset is the BEST and sometimes when there are storms either coming or going, it makes the sky’s even prettier as the sun goes down.
We walked around for an hour and talked about their upcoming wedding at Back Bay Farms in October. Their awesome Food Truck caterer and I can’t be more excited to work with Soirees By Lauren again! We talked about all the friends we ironically had in common, being that they are first responders, they knew just about EVERY single client of mine that were first responders and going back 6 years, friends, that’s a lot!!! We pretty much agreed it might be an Amanda Manupella Photographer reunion at their wedding! Which I think is AWESOME and I might just have to get a picture of that! But the best part about the shoot was seeing how much Chelsea loved Travis. She reminded me of myself when I met Dominic. Not saying I don’t love him any less today, but there was something almost proud about her love. She wanted to stand on a certain side of Travis so his sleeve tattoo showed – she just loved that arm!! (I have to admit, I’ve been trying to talk Dominic into starting a sleeve tattoo for a while now) she loved his bald head and well he simply just made her GLOW! She had the best smile in his presence. You could tell she was simply in smitten with him. But I think what got me the most was seeing them interact as a family. Watching Chelsea love on Caden. She was a good mama. THEN she told me he wasn’t biologically hers. She was going to be a step mother. You know, there’s something about being a mom that just lights up your life I think. Parenthood is HARD. It’s probably the hardest journey you will be on in your life. But coming from a divorced family, I’ve learned that being a step-parent is HARDER. My step-mother and I butted heads for YEARS only to be one of the best things in my life now. Watching Chelsea love on Caden and seeing him genuinely love on her right back made my heart literally explode. Although the journey for them may not always be that easy… Seeing them already have a good foot in the door into being family … that friends is a blessing! I’m so darn lucky to have some awesome couples this year and it’s spilling into 2018 now with more and more Virginia and Maryland brides!!!
