Some of my most favorite times are engagements sessions with future brides and grooms. Maryland hasn’t steered me wrong either with location choices. Roxy and Evan’s engagement session right outside of Annapolis in a small gated community called Sherwood Forest was right out of a movie! It’s right off the Severn River and it’s like Dirty Dancing meet’s wherever they filmed that movie The Great Outdoors. You know what I’m talking about right??? That movie when John Candy eats that GIANT steak, and then the bear at the end of the movie get’s shot in the rear end and balds it??? If you have no idea about this movie. I’m sorry… Go watch it. It’s a classic!!!!! BUT- I compare it because it’s this quaint neighborhood, Sherwood Forest has it’s own Lacrosse Field, Tennis Court, Golf Course and right off a river that fishbowls into if you didn’t know better reminded you of a “lake” where the prettiest sailboats sit and beautiful cottages and summer homes can allow you to sit on their porches and dream of what your life has either been so far, or allow you to dream of what’s to come. These houses sit on big hills, with their own private driveways and your last name at the top of the drive so everyone driving around in their golf carts know’s who is who. Sounds like perfection right???
Roxy and I sat down one day in my home office in Maryland and just talked ALL things wedding. I swear when she walked out of my house and got in here car I felt like I had been friends with her forever. It’s honestly the perfect way I like to feel, and hope my brides feel when they leave or get off the phone with me. It’s how you know you’re with the right person. At least, that’s they way I run my business. She told me about her fiance Evan, who at one time was her Tennis Coach. How adorable is that??? They knew right away they wanted to start their session on the courts… Representing what was the beginning of things for them. The LOVE of the game. Kinda fitting that Tennis starts with LOVE as a score of zero too!!! They played a little as I shot, got to snuggle and I impressed myself with knowing terminology like “serving and backhand” Who knew I even remembered any of these terms from when well the only time I played tennis was when we were forced to do it during high school!! ha ha
They change and we headed down to the water to see where their ceremony would be next year and then took me into where the docks were. Kayaks and boat slips, houses manicured with beds of Peonies… It was the perfect overcast evening, that literally as soon as I got in the car and drove out of Sherwood Forest, the BIGGEST thunderstorm ever started and the rain pretty much never stopped for the rest of the week. It was the BEST luck!!!!
