Cloisters Castle is one of Baltimore’s Top Wedding Venues.
One of my favorite things about my move to Maryland is getting to know the vendors. Back in Hampton Roads, the relationship I had with vendors were amazing. Florist, Venues, Planners, and more…. we just all knew each other. We took care of each other, shared social media posts and just knew we all had the biggest thing in common. WE TOOK CARE AND LOVED OUR BRIDES.
The last month I’ve been driving around, visiting venue’s stopping and meeting vendors and introducing myself, sharing my love for getting to know the area and how to better serve my Maryland brides. Whether they be Baltimore Brides, Annapolis brides or DC Brides. They are all important and serving brides in the best way possible is so important to me!!!
I drove out to Cloisters Castle and got a personal tour by one of their amazing team members Sarah and was simply blown away!!! The original owners, the Parkers traveled through Europe and just fell in love with the architecture. So they came back to the countryside of Maryland and spent their years working towards building the home of their dreams. A gothic manor house. They collected artwork, antique furniture, found a hilltop in Baltimore County and built their home in the 1920’s. I learned from Kelly that believe it or not, it took 3 years and $50,000.00 to build. …I know…. enter in all the mouth open emoji’s here right?
Fifty Thousand Dollars!!!
The house has FLAGSTONE shingles for a roof. Each shingle weighs up to 210 pounds each and she said this is the only home in the United States like it!!! Talk about that for originality!!! The wood timbers were left outside for 2 years to weather on their own! With glass doors from the 16th century brought in and installed no wonder this is one of the most favorite Wedding Venues in Baltimore County!!! Here’s a pretty cool fact too, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith actually married here!!!! Also, Cloisters has been a place of many movies and shows to be taped, I found out that parts of the second season of House of Cards was filmed there and the classic Cry Baby with Johnny Depp was shot there!!!! (I even had to go look up the scene’s to see!!)
Sarah went on to tell me how Brides have the entire day at Cloisters to themselves! There are so many options when you get married there, Brides have the opportunity to marry in the amphitheater which they have custom cushions for your guests to sit on, you can marry in the courtyard and stop and ring the bell before you walk down the aisle with the reception moving inside with REAL fireplaces that can be used during the cold seasons! A bridal suite and even a kids room for them to play and stay occupied!!! It’s a romantic castle that offers an array of places for romantic pictures for even an engaged couple, and offers so much versatility for brides and grooms with ANY theme they can come up with! From the classic bride with the romantic need of having a fairytale wedding to the quirky amazing couple that has a love for the European and castle architecture or themed weddings!
