This Orange, Va wedding made me fall in love with Northern Virginia for sure!!! The drive was FANTASTIC for a holiday weekend and I couldn’t have asked for a better first-time venue up there! Chestnut Hill Bed & Breakfast was a beautiful historic house right outside of Charlottesville with wineries within reach so you know I’m sold!!! I can’t wait to be back in October for the fall time!!
I can’t tell you how much I LOVE Caitlyn and Russell. From gushing about them at their engagement session I just knew that their wedding was going to be amazing. Caitlyn got my bridal guide and used it to her full advantage! She took advantage while planning her day to schedule her day to photograph without rush. This ladies is the way to go. No tight squeezes from one thing to another, we literally just walked to each moment of the day vs running and sweating even more. (it was a July wedding after all… sweat is just going to happen!!) I spend a lot of time and money designing my bridal guide for my girls and to see that she took FULL advantage of the guide. Father, Daughter moments, a first look and even time to photograph gift exchanges.. We had it all.
The day was hot, but it was perfectly hot in its own way. The sun didn’t beat down on us all day although the humidity told us who’s boss it not one single person complained about the heat. I’d like to think that the groomsmen were conditioned for the hot weather being half of them were Navy Pilot’s and I can’t imagine being in a jumpsuit and shoved in a tight space like a aircraft jet is set to 71 degrees. The ladies seemed to be relaxed all day with Caitlyn, smiling the entire day just in awe that their girl was finally walking down the aisle!!! My kind of people!!! Caitlyn chose Navy and Gold for her day, a couture gown from House of Maya and of course, the guys were as dapper as always in their Thornhill suits from The Black Tux. Perfectly dressed, each groomsman that was a fellow pilot with Russ, wore their gold wings on their lapel vs a full uniform except Russ’s brother David, the best man, who rocked his Air Force attire. It was perfectly coordinated. The champagne and cold drinks flowed all day and night, and the reception was to DIE for!!! A perfect head table draped in Eucalyptus and white florals where the Bride and Groom sat in the middle draped in Gold sequins. Caitlyn’s dad Greg could barely get through the reception without tears- it was such a big day for his daughter!! I love those sweet moments!!! But what is better than a surprise flash mob by all your favorite ladies INCLUDING your mother in law!? That’s right, Caitlyn and Russ were surprised by a dance routine to Bruno Mars 24 Karat and it was GOOD!!! If you follow me on Instagram, the dance was briefly on there! And of course, when a pilot what needs to happen at a reception??? A top gun serenade, of course, the guys were incredible!!! I can’t tell you how much I loved these two…. and when your groom comes to you and says “we’ve got to be friends after the wedding, I want to meet your husband too!!” The answer is ALWAYS YES! Maryland’s door is ALWAYS open and I cannot wait to hang with you guys again!!!
