This Military wedding was a close to my heart kind of day!!!! It’s crazy to know that just about everything in life at some point comes full circle. Sarah and I go back to middle school. Our senior year of high school, I managed a tanning salon and Sarah and I use to work together. Fast forward years later and Sarah became the mom of 2 beautiful twin boys and as a single mom it was such an honor to photograph them a couple years ago where we talked about how life has treated us as we have gotten older. She’s an amazing Real Estate agent and now she’s added “mil spouse” to her title!!! When Sarah got engaged, I remember wanting to LOVE her post like 100 times!!! It was so deserving. I got to watch her relationship with Jamie online blossom and I knew she had found a good guy!! They both had kids of their own and Sarah was about to become the Queen of a household of BOYS!!!! She was also about to take on 3 kids and deploying as well. A life I know too well. Dominic use to work at the same command Jamie was at in the past so I’ve really enjoyed supporting Sarah these last weeks on her new journey!!! It doesn’t help her best friend is ex-Air Force and knows the world ALL TOO well also!!!!
I sat at a soccer game and got a message saying “What are you doing in 2 weeks??? I can’t imagine ANYONE else shooting my wedding except you Amanda” and I about fell out of my chair. You guys, every single day I pinch myself that THIS is what I do. Sarah made that day even sweeter. The irony that I was going to be in Richmond the day prior to shoot a wedding also was amazing, so the ability to jump down to Virginia Beach for literally 4 hours was an honor! Sarah and Jamie planned their military wedding in 2 weeks!!! TWO WEEKS!!!! They knew a quick civil service wasn’t for them. They fell in love with each other and first and foremost, were in love with God. So they knew they had to say I DO in his house. Things happened quickly, their best friends moved mountains for them and on a Monday afternoon in a church they loved so whole heartedly, Sarah’s dad got to finally walk he down the aisle I bet he’s waited his entire life to do. Her mamma did everything to hold back the tears (just wait til you see that image) and My heart just about bursted!!! Sarah’s dad PROUDLY documented the entire thing from his iPhone during the service and you know what??? I couldn’t hate on him for it. You could see in not only Sarah’s parents faces, but Jamie’s parents that they were INCREDIBLY proud of the adults standing on that stage promising forever to each other.
They brought their 3 boys up and poured sand in a jar. The pastor said “there was so much love they had for each other- the jar nearly over flowed ” as they poured the colors in, mixing each one of their hearts together to make a family!!! It came time to pronounce them husband and wife and I could seriously FEEL the anticipation they had… Jamie was nearly on his toes ready to leap forward for that kiss and Sarah I’m pretty sure couldn’t get the biggest grin off her face and LITERALLY SQUEALED as he announced them married. It was simply the BEST MONDAY EVER… and generally Monday’s aren’t the most favorite day of the week for most people!
Before I headed back on the road 4 hours home we did portraits and I met them at one of my favorite local Italian restaurants EVER in Virginia Beach called http://manninositalianbistro.com/ and I got just enough time for them to share a first dance and a slice of cake!!! I can’t forget the best food ever that our High school friend Carlos that helps run the Kitchen at the Oceanfront location put in a bag for me to enjoy on the drive home!!!!
Congrats Jamie and Sarah!!!! Sending so much love to you and safe travels with all your deployments in the future!!!
